Second-Generation 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe Introduced

The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe will be powered by a handcrafted 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, available in two performance outputs. The AMG GT 63 will churn out 577 hp along with 590 lb-ft of torque, propelling this top-tier AMG GT model to 100 km/h in a mere 3.2 seconds. The AMG GT 55, on the other hand, will produce 469 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to reach 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

Each engine is meticulously hand-assembled at the AMG engine factory in Affalterbach. Upholding the "One man, One engine" principle, unparalleled attention is devoted to ensuring efficiency, sustainability, and quality assurance throughout the production process.

The AMG Speedshift MCT 9-speed gearbox, complemented by a wet start-off clutch that replaces the traditional torque converter, will be mated to the engine. Power is then relayed to the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system. This system guarantees maximum traction by variably distributing torque between the front and rear axles based on driving dynamics, ensuring enhanced stability across diverse road conditions — from dry to wet to snowy.

Enhanced Drivability

The second-generation AMG GT Coupe is equipped with a brand-new suspension setup. To decrease unsprung mass, several suspension components are crafted from forged aluminum. Both the AMG GT 55 and AMG GT 63 models come standard with the AMG Active Ride Control suspension with roll stabilization, dynamically adapting to the road, driving mode, and vehicle operation. Furthermore, the coupe features an electronically controlled rear limited-slip differential.

Additional noteworthy features include an active rear axle steering system for enhanced agility and stability, and an active aerodynamic system. This two-part active control system—named AIRPANEL—manages vertical louvers behind the lower air intake and horizontal louvers in the upper air intake. These louvers can transition between closed and open positions, balancing aerodynamics, cooling, and reduced air resistance.

Combined with the advanced AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, the refined suspension and dynamic features ensure that this iteration of the AMG GT is the best handling one yet. It also guarantees confidence for owners, even in rain or snow.

Customizing the AMG GT Coupe's on-road behavior is made simple with the AMG DYNAMIC Select drive program, offering six settings: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual, and Race. Each alters the vehicle's behavior to ensure optimal behaviour for every scenario, from snowy roads to racetracks.

Redesigned Body and Interior

The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe showcases an aerodynamically enhanced design. Its shell incorporates lightweight composite aluminum combined with steel, magnesium, and fiber composites to produce a rigid, lightweight frame.

The interior is just as impressive: the reimagined centre console features an 11.9-inch portrait-oriented multimedia touchscreen, accompanied by a 12.3-inch driver's display with customizable layouts. The MBUX infotainment system offers a variety of AMG-specific features, including the AMG Track Pace for monitoring track performance.

Transformed into a 2+2 vehicle, the AMG GT Coupe now offers increased cargo space and improved functionality compared to its predecessor, making it a viable daily driver without compromising on space or utility. The AMG Performance steering wheel is flat-bottomed and includes multiple digital controls as well as a rotary dial for the driving mode and suspension adjustments, giving drivers easy access to the multitude of functions offered by the new AMG coupe.

The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe stands as the pinnacle of AMG's lineup. Not only does it offer heightened performance and handling over its predecessor, but it also promises daily driving convenience. It harmoniously balances luxury and refinement with raw power and agility, truly encapsulating the essence of high-performance driving.
